Rotterdam
Architecture, ambition and a city always looking forward.
Why Rotterdam?
Almost entirely rebuilt after the Second World War, Rotterdam made a bold decision: rather than reconstruct what was lost, it would build something entirely new. The result is one of the most architecturally adventurous and visually striking cities on the continent, a living laboratory of design, innovation and urban reinvention. For education professionals, Rotterdam is a genuinely stimulating destination. The city has a strong tradition of practical thinking, creative problem solving and forward-looking ambition. It is the largest port in Europe, a hub of logistics, technology and international trade, and a city that has always embraced change rather than resisted it. These qualities make it an inspiring setting for courses on innovation, digital transformation, entrepreneurship and leadership.
Rotterdam has a creative, energetic atmosphere that is quite different from Amsterdam. It is a city that gets things done, and that can-do spirit is infectious. Our participants consistently find that Rotterdam surprises them, and that the surprise is always a pleasant one.

Cultural Highlights
A selection of the experiences that make Rotterdam such a memorable destination for our participants.
The Erasmus Bridge
The iconic swan-shaped Erasmus Bridge is one of the most photographed landmarks in the Netherlands and a symbol of the city's ambition and confidence. A walk across it at sunset is a memorable experience.
The Museum Park
Rotterdam's Museum Park brings together some of the finest cultural institutions in the country, including the Boijmans Van Beuningen collection, the Natural History Museum and the Kunsthal, in a single leafy precinct.
Food and the Markthal
The Markthal is one of the most spectacular food markets in Europe, housed under a vast arched ceiling decorated with a giant artwork of fruits, vegetables and insects. It is the perfect place for a social evening and a taste of Dutch and international food culture.
Rotterdam is easily reached by direct Eurostar and Thalys services from London, Paris and Brussels. Amsterdam Airport Schiphol is approximately one hour away by direct train, and Rotterdam The Hague Airport offers additional flight connections. The city centre is compact and easily navigable on foot and by bicycle.
