About This Course
VET has a unique role in European inclusion. It often reaches people who have struggled in or left mainstream education: early school leavers, learners with additional needs, those from disadvantaged backgrounds, migrants and refugees, older adults returning to work and people with disabilities.
This course gives VET teachers, trainers and managers a thorough, practical and reflective engagement with inclusion and diversity in VET settings, aligned with the Herning Declaration's emphasis on inclusion, the EU Disability Rights Strategy and the European Pillar of Social Rights.
Participants develop practical strategies for removing barriers to participation and success, and design inclusive training approaches appropriate for their own vocational sector.
Who Should Attend
- VET teachers and trainers working with diverse learner groups
- VET coordinators responsible for inclusion and support services
- VET institution managers developing inclusion strategies
- In-company trainers working with apprentices with additional needs

Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course participants will be able to:
Explain the EU inclusion and diversity framework for VET and connect it to institutional practice.
The Herning Declaration, EU Disability Rights Strategy and European Pillar of Social Rights create specific obligations for VET institutions on inclusion. You will know what these obligations mean in practice and how to evidence them in Erasmus+ reporting.
Apply Universal Design for Learning principles to VET curriculum and training delivery.
UDL is the most comprehensive evidence-based framework for designing accessible, flexible training. Applied in VET, it means designing programmes that work for the full range of learners from the start.
Design inclusive VET mobility experiences for learners with fewer opportunities.
Erasmus+ specifically requires VET institutions to include learners with fewer opportunities. You will have frameworks for preparing these learners for mobility, selecting appropriate placements and supporting them throughout.
Build an inclusive learning environment and culture in your VET institution.
You will develop a practical audit tool for assessing your institution's inclusion culture and a specific improvement plan that addresses culture, language, representation and expectations.
