About This Course

Adult educators work in some of the most demanding and most rewarding professional contexts in European education. They work with learners carrying complex personal histories, limited resources and enormous courage. They often work in underfunded organisations with high caseloads and limited institutional support.

This course is a space for adult education professionals to stop, reflect, recover and rebuild. It is a professionally grounded, evidence-based exploration of the specific wellbeing challenges of adult education work, combined with practical strategies for building genuine resilience and managing the emotional demands of facilitation sustainably.

The course is aligned with the LifeComp framework, the EU Mental Health Strategy 2023 and the Erasmus+ Inclusion and Diversity priority.

Recharge And Thrive

Who Should Attend

  • Adult educators and facilitators experiencing stress, exhaustion or reduced motivation
  • Community learning professionals carrying heavy emotional loads
  • Migration and integration workers dealing with vicarious trauma
  • Adult education managers who want to model sustainable professional practice
  • Any adult education professional who feels they are giving more than they can sustain

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course participants will be able to:

  • Explain the specific wellbeing challenges of adult education work and identify personal risk and protective factors.

Burnout, compassion fatigue and vicarious trauma are specific occupational risks for people working with vulnerable adults. You will understand these risks clearly and identify your own risk and protective factors.

  • Apply evidence-based wellbeing practices including mindfulness, self-compassion and boundary-setting.

Mindfulness reduces physiological stress responses measurably. Self-compassion reduces the harsh self-criticism that exhausts people who care deeply about their work. You will practice both during the course and leave with a sustainable personal wellbeing practice.

  • Develop sustainable boundaries and workload management strategies specific to adult education contexts.

Boundaries in adult education are particularly challenging because the work is relational and learners' needs are often urgent and real. You will have specific, tested strategies for holding professional boundaries that protect your wellbeing without abandoning your learners.

  • Contribute to a professional culture of wellbeing and mutual support in your organisation.
