About This Course

The digital transformation of adult education is not simply about giving adult educators new tools to use. It is about understanding how digital technology is reshaping the lives, work and learning needs of adult learners, and how adult education professionals can use digital tools to make learning more accessible and engaging.

This course gives adult education professionals a practical, critically grounded engagement with AI and digital innovation in adult education. Participants develop their own digital confidence, explore AI and digital tools relevant to adult education contexts, and design digitally enhanced activities that serve the specific needs of adult learners.

The course pays particular attention to digital inclusion: how to use digital tools in ways that reduce rather than increase barriers for adult learners with low digital confidence, limited access or negative experiences of technology.

Ai And Digital Innovation For Adult Educators

Who Should Attend

  • Adult educators wanting to use digital tools more confidently
  • Community learning professionals exploring digital approaches
  • Literacy and basic skills tutors integrating digital literacy
  • Migration and integration workers using digital tools
  • Adult education managers developing digital transformation strategies

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course participants will be able to:

  • Evaluate AI and digital tools relevant to adult education and make evidence-based adoption decisions.

You will test at least eight tools relevant to adult education, evaluating each for pedagogical value, accessibility, data protection and practical feasibility with your specific learner group.

  • Design digitally enhanced adult learning activities accessible to learners with low digital confidence.

Digital tools can reduce or increase barriers to adult learning. You will know how to use technology in ways that genuinely open doors for learners who have been excluded from digital participation.

  • Use AI tools to reduce administrative burden and improve facilitation quality.

AI tools for lesson planning, content adaptation, translation and accessibility support can significantly reduce workload while improving quality and inclusivity.

  • Develop adult learners' digital literacy alongside content learning using an embedded approach.

Digital literacy for adult learners is most effective when embedded in content learning rather than taught separately. You will design activities where adults develop digital competences as a natural part of engaging with content.
